- The Lychee Ice cream from The Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (located in the heart of Chinatown) is one of the most exciting treats to have during the summer! It’s subtle fruity flavor is perfect for those that are opposed to having fruit flavors in their ice cream. This ice cream’s amalgamation of both creamy texture and floral tang leaves the taste buds in pure euphoria. I had the pleasure of trying the Lychee flavor in both sorbet and ice cream form…the ice cream reigned supreme!
- At this point I have prided myself in distinguishing authentic Greek dining from the faux ones. Whenever I eat Greek food I usually order a plethora of things on the menu (or at least whatever my wallet allows) such as grilled Octopus, Spanakopita, zucchini and eggplants w/ Tzatziki, greek fries, Lamb Bucatini, etc. Every order has usually ended with me guzzling down a cold bottle of Mythos and downing a Lamb chop one way or another, so it’s only suitable that I give you an intricate review on a lamb dish. I had a very pleasurable time scarfing down these lamb chops, the lemon-y zest and it’s charred edges makes every bite worth every penny. I think of it as a very sultry dish, the lemon- marinaded flavor seduces you into taking the next bite without even thinking about it. If Elektra (Marvel comic book heroine) were a dish, it would be the Lamb chops from The Greek Islands Taverna. Accompanied with a light beer, this dish is as sexy as a secret lover from Greece.
- Here we go with another ice cream review! Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream parlor (located on 2 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002) seems to be the “go-to” place for the modernization of Ice Cream. This trendy parlor veers away from being the usual archetype for ice cream parlor’s in America and it introduces new flavors to mix. The New God Flow is definitely good, but it’s not memorable. The dish consists of a few scoops of vanilla ice cream which rests on a thick a slice of Japanese cat bread, and then topped off with drizzled honey. I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes down to the ergonomics of ice cream, it should be enjoyed while taking a Sunday evening stroll, not sitting down at a counter stabbing at it with a fork and knife. Morgenstern’s New God Flow is a tasty homage to Kanye’s song, but it’s an inconvenience to the eater.
Morgenstern’s Charcoal ice cream is definitely the ice cream parlor’s front runner, it’s creamy yet chalky consistency is a very bizarre taste. The base of the flavor is very reminiscent of French vanilla ice cream, and it’s followed up with the after taste of activated charcoal (which is used for detoxing). Keep in mind that while this is flavor is as tasty as it is deceiving…its called detox for a reason.
